Kohima: The Department of Economics at Modern College recently concluded an educational study tour to Kolkata, running from June 4 to June 8. Held under the theme "Explore, Learn, Experience, Grow," the trip provided nine students and three faculty members with a firsthand look at economic institutions and urban development.
Organizers designed the initiative to help students connect theoretical classroom concepts with practical application. By visiting key sites including the RBI Museum, Science City, Victoria Memorial, and Nicco Park, participants gained insights into India’s economic history, scientific progress, and cultural heritage. The faculty members provided guidance throughout the trip to ensure the group effectively engaged with these real-world environments.
The department reported that the tour successfully broadened student perspectives. The experience served to enhance both the academic and personal growth of those involved by exposing them to a diverse range of institutions and professional settings.
