Kohima: MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso held a free medical camp for New Reserve and Lerie Chazou residents at the New Reserve Council Hall on September 19. The event provided essential screenings and checkups. The clinic offered blood tests, ultrasounds, ENT exams, dental checks, and consultations. Medics also performed sugar and blood pressure monitoring, plus PAP smears for cervical screening. Teams traveled to provide home services for elderly and bedridden patients.
Dr. Rhutso, who represents the 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, stated, "I along with dedicated medical team had conducted numerous health camps in 25 locations across the state under the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CMMOT) initiative." He plans to expand these health outreach programs to additional wards across the capital city.
Vincent Belho of the Family Planning Association of India in Nagaland attended the event. He pushed for cervical cancer awareness and early screening. He also urged locals to seek HPV vaccinations and utilize PrEP for HIV prevention. Belho noted that family planning helps people reach their desired family size, ensuring they remain financially and socially capable of supporting their children.
Thepfuneisa Sileo chaired the opening, while Rev. Tho-o Neihu offered prayers. Representatives from the Lerie Chazou and New Reserve youth organizations spoke during the session. Petevilie Livi, chairman of the Lerie Chazou Council, provided closing remarks.
