Aizawl: Mizoram is shedding bureaucratic weight. Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced a push to slash red tape, pull in private cash, and spike local employment. The state wants businesses to grow fast.
The government is dumping redundant laws and moving services online. They built 40 new web portals to kill the need for office visits. This is all about ease of doing business. Mizoram already grabbed the 12th spot in national rankings from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
Phase one finished in December 2025. It focused on digital governance and simplifying rules. The state is now into phase two, which started in January 2026. This leg targets complex legislative reviews and smarter administrative steps. The Centre gave the green light to five specific proposals so far. These cover tourism, power, environment, education, and healthcare.
Lalduhoma says the structural shift is vital. He believes these changes will "dramatically reduce the time and financial costs of starting and operating a business in Mizoram" while clearing out procedural bottlenecks. The goal remains simple: boost local startups and get people back to work.
