Mizoram Officials Push Unified Front Against Rising Drug Crisis

Aizawl: State officials met in Aizawl this week to plot a new course against the drug crisis. The seminar, held at the Lianchhiari Conference Hall, drew top brass from the Excise and Narcotics Department to address shifting patterns of illicit trade. The state faces heavy pressure due to its location near the Golden Triangle.

Excise and Narcotics Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar demanded unity. He told the crowd that the state's small size makes it possible to stop the rot before it claims the next generation. "Mizoram's small population and close-knit society provide an opportunity for coordinated and effective responses," he said.

Social Welfare Director Sushil Singh argued for a mix of prevention, medical treatment, and community oversight. Other experts rounded out the agenda by targeting supply lines and shifting addiction treatment tactics. Secretary C. Lalruaia pushed the room to dump old methods and embrace smarter, faster strategies to catch traffickers.

The event brought together government workers, security forces, and civil groups for an open talk. They aim to combine these diverse perspectives into a single, functional wall against the drug trade.
