Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma shut down rumors of a cabinet shakeup this week. He insisted that his ministers have only just hit their stride in their roles. Work remains to be done. The government has reached the halfway mark of its five-year term, fueling intense speculation about potential changes.
Lalduhoma addressed the talk at a Zoram People's Movement party event. "Many people expected a major reshuffle at this stage, but our ministers have been working hard and are only now becoming fully established in their departments. Therefore, we do not see the need for a major reshuffle," he stated.
Critics pointed to a recent move where the Chief Minister took over the Personal and Administrative Reforms portfolio from K Sapdanga. Lalduhoma dismissed claims of an internal rift. He stated the switch followed a recommendation from the party's Political Affairs Committee. He noted the government already finished ten small adjustments to help departments talk to each other better. These minor tweaks will continue as needed.
The Chief Minister shifted focus to long-term goals. He cited the Vikshit Mizoram 2047 vision document as a way to boost India's GDP. He urged party workers to judge the government by its policies rather than personal gain. The administration intends to keep pushing on corruption and institutional reform. Lalduhoma remains focused on the mandate he received from the public.
