Minister Rai pushes for project results in Mokokchung

Kohima: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai finished a two-day trip to Mokokchung on July 6. He held a series of meetings with district officials to grill them on the progress of centrally funded programs. Rai demanded clear priorities, better transparency, and strict accountability from local departments to ensure federal money actually reaches the people.

The minister pushed for a focus on organic farming. He claimed the state has the right climate and natural resources to turn a profit through sustainable growth. District officers provided detailed reports on their ongoing work while Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma ran the session.

Rai also spent time in Ungma village. He toured the library and museum to see how locals protect Ao heritage. He specifically praised Padma Shri awardee Guru Sangyusang Pongener for his work in the community. During his visit, the minister said, "India’s strength lay in its diversity, with each region contributing unique traditions and cultural heritage."

Before heading out, the minister stopped at the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital. He checked the status of the new building project currently moving forward under the Ministry of DoNER.
