Minister Orders Urgent Flood Relief for Assam's Teok Villages

Guwahati: Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Atul Bora surveyed flood-ravaged villages in the Teok constituency on July 31. He demanded immediate action. The Bhogdoi River triggered the disaster. Bora toured Elengmara No. 2 Pohumara and Elengmara Khutiyapata villages to document the destruction firsthand.

These sites fall under the 38 No. Baligaon Gaon Panchayat in the North-West Jorhat Development Block. Teok MLA Bikash Saikia joined the minister on the ground. They met with local residents and panchayat officials to grasp the full scale of the crisis.

Bora issued clear orders to his staff during the inspection. He told officials to ensure the "swift implementation of relief and rehabilitation measures under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department so that assistance reaches the affected households without delay."

A high-level team supported the minister. Attendees included Additional Chief Secretary B. Kalyan Chakravarty, Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission Managing Director Kuntalmoni Sarma Bordoloi, SIPRD Director Ananta Gogoi, and Additional Commissioner Garga Mohan Das. Various departmental staff also attended to coordinate the response.
