Shillong: More than 400 military personnel from 12 nations have gathered in Umroi, Meghalaya, for the inaugural PRAGATI 2026 joint exercise. Since the event began on May 20, the multinational force has focused on improving regional security and tactical interoperability by working in mixed teams.
Over the last three days, soldiers navigated semi-mountainous and jungle terrain to practice rock craft, ambush and counter-ambush drills, slithering, and bus intervention. The training also featured live-fire competitions with sniper rifles and AK-203s to sharpen operational precision. Outside of tactical drills, the participants engaged in basketball, volleyball, and tug of war to build mutual trust and professional camaraderie.
In a separate event on May 23, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps hosted a yoga session in Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh. Held as part of the preparations for International Yoga Day, the program included troops, local students, and athletes from the Hangpan Dada Memorial tournament. The session focused on breathing discipline and physical well-being to promote mental balance and strengthen ties between the military and the local community.
