Imphal: The banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, known as PREPAK, admitted to planting bombs at the homes of former Minister Bijoy Koijam and Thoubal District official Phurailatpam Bhavananda Sharma. Their armed wing, the Red Army, targeted Koijam’s residence on June 28 and July 4, 2026. These devices failed to detonate. The group called these attempts warning actions.
PREPAK accused Koijam of spying for the Research and Analysis Wing and the Intelligence Bureau. They claim he helps security forces track their members. The militants ordered him to report to them within seven days. They threatened that failure to comply would invite action by the "People’s Court."
A separate bomb blast hit Sharma’s home on June 26. The group alleges Sharma and four other development officers misused public funds tied to MGNREGA projects during the 2025-26 fiscal year. They claim these officials cooked the books after the government dissolved local administrative committees. The list of accused includes Sanjenbam Seema Devi, Kh. Rakesh Singh, Kiromani, and Surma Devi.
The rebels demanded these officials show up within five days to face allegations of corruption. They warned of unspecified consequences for anyone who ignores their orders.
