Meghalaya Youth Congress Launches Campaign to Engage Young Voters

Shillong: The Indian Youth Congress is launching a fresh push to reconnect with young voters in Meghalaya to strengthen its presence and revive the party across the state. This strategy emerged during an extended State Executive Committee meeting of the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress held at Congress Bhawan on Wednesday.

Samrat Keshari Jena, the IYC secretary in-charge of Meghalaya, announced plans to intensify engagement with students, first-time voters, and young professionals. The organization aims to launch outreach programs in universities, colleges, and public spaces to encourage active participation in democratic processes. During the briefing, Jena said, "The organisation would intensify its engagement with the youth by reaching out to students, first-time voters and young professionals across the state."

The campaign will focus on critical issues including unemployment and drug abuse, which leaders identified as major challenges for the state. Jena criticized the high number of vacant government posts that remain unfilled despite the struggles faced by job seekers. The party plans to act as a vocal opposition on matters involving education, job creation, and social welfare.

MPYC president Timjim K Momin emphasized that political groups must look beyond elections to focus on government accountability and the welfare of citizens. He affirmed that the Youth Congress remains committed to advocating for the future of the state's younger generation. The meeting included participation from IYC national in-charge Manish Sharma and former minister Zenith M Sangma, with leadership expressing confidence that this grassroots effort will expand their reach statewide.
