Shillong: The Meghalaya government is hiring faculty for the nearly complete Tura Medical College. Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla confirmed the facility is 95 percent finished. The site will house athletes during the upcoming National Games. Meanwhile, the state awaits the Prime Minister to open the Shillong Medical College.
A Shillong court sentenced Sangeet Barman to 10 years in prison for trafficking 803 kilograms of ganja. Police caught Barman at a highway checkpoint last year. He hid the drugs inside a tanker truck. He must also pay a 1 lakh rupee fine.
