Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced that Meghalaya has become one of the fastest-growing states in India. His statement cites data from the Client Associates State of Indian States 2026 Report, which tracks the economic trajectory of the nation.
The report highlights several major fiscal milestones for the state. Meghalaya achieved a 15.3 percent five-year nominal GDP growth and saw a 97 percent increase in its Gross State Domestic Product between fiscal years 2021 and 2026. Additionally, the state has seen its capital investments quadruple since 2018.
Sangma attributed this rapid transformation to a sustained government focus on key sectors including infrastructure, connectivity, power, and tourism. He also pointed to deliberate efforts in entrepreneurship, livelihood support, and governance reforms as critical drivers for the success. The Chief Minister credited the state's progress to the hard work and resilience of its citizens, confirming that the administration remains dedicated to creating an inclusive and future-ready economy.
