Meghalaya Lok Adalat Resolves 500 Legal Disputes

Shillong: The National Lok Adalat wrapped up across Meghalaya this Saturday. Officials settled 500 cases. The total settlement amount reached Rs 2,97,04,609. The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority organized the event under the National Legal Services Authority.

Proceedings unfolded in the High Court of Meghalaya and every district court in the state. Courts took up 834 matters in total. This included 564 pre-litigation files and 270 pending cases. Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere, the Patron-in-Chief of the state authority, provided the patronage for the session. Justice HS Thangkhiew and Justice W. Diengdoh supervised the day's work. Thangkhiew serves as Executive Chairman of the MSLSA, while Diengdoh leads the High Court Legal Services Committee.
