Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma held a comprehensive review meeting on May 14 to assess the status of several critical state projects. The session focused on the DREAM anti-drug mission, the Jal Jeevan Mission, and the ongoing development of the Tura Medical College.

Addressing the state's drug crisis, the Chief Minister met with officials from the Social Welfare Department and the Meghalaya Police. He emphasized a structured and outcome-oriented approach to strengthen rehabilitation infrastructure and enhance law enforcement through better inter-departmental coordination. Sangma highlighted that the mission would rely heavily on expanded awareness campaigns involving local leaders, educational institutions, and community members to foster a drug-free environment.

The discussion also turned to the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide safe and reliable drinking water to all households in Meghalaya. The review centered on improving implementation efficiency, long-term financial planning, and the sustainability of village-level infrastructure. Officials discussed the importance of community participation to ensure that rural water projects are completed on time and remain functional in remote areas.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Sangma reviewed the current status of the Tura Medical College, focusing on the steps necessary to finalize its operational readiness. This institution is expected to significantly bolster healthcare infrastructure in the Garo Hills region and provide essential medical education opportunities for students throughout the state.
