Imphal: Business stalled at Khwairamband Ima Keithel on Tuesday. Women vendors shut down the historic market to protest recent arrests made by the National Investigation Agency. The crowd demanded the immediate release of detained members of Arambai Tengol.

Protesters argued the government previously promised amnesty to anyone who surrendered illegal weapons. They claimed these arrests shatter that trust. One demonstrator, L. Mema Devi, told the crowd the arrests were bad faith moves that threaten local stability. She noted that these volunteers stepped up to protect civilians during dangerous times. She said, "How can people trust future appeal, if today promise are ignored."

The vendors warned of heavier protests if the government keeps pushing. They want authorities to drop all further legal action against village volunteers. The National Investigation Agency offered no statement regarding the sit-in. The tension continues to build.
