Imphal: The Langka Village Authority has formally accused armed cadres affiliated with the Kuki National Front (Progressive) of launching a violent assault on the Naga village of Langka in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. According to a statement released on 13 June, the incident occurred at approximately 8:40 am, leaving residents in a state of fear and insecurity.

Village leaders claimed that the attackers utilized heavy weapons and explosive devices during the operation. They specifically alleged that the KNF(P), which is currently a signatory to the Suspension of Operations agreement with both the state and central governments, was responsible for the aggression. The authority further asserted that the KNF (Nehlun), described as a proxy group operating from a base in Baleijang village, participated in the raid.

Connecting this event to the recent deaths of six Naga civilians whose bodies were found mutilated, the village authority expressed deep concern regarding the safety of surrounding areas. They warned that other Naga villages, including Lasan, Songpibung, Haimol, and Laloi, face imminent threats. In response to the escalating tension, the authority has called upon the state government to conduct a “thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation” into the matter.

The village leaders urged officials to initiate legal action against all responsible parties to prevent further violence. They also appealed for a return to peace, requesting that all groups exercise restraint and uphold the rule of law to stabilize the IT Road region.
