Imphal: The Joint Tribes’ Council Manipur announced an immediate end to its emergency shutdown across the Zeliangrong region on June 2. The organization confirmed that the protest measures concluded at 5 pm, thanking local residents for their disciplined participation and unwavering solidarity during the agitation.

Despite suspending the shutdown, the council emphasized that its campaign for justice remains active. Leaders are continuing to monitor the status of six Naga civilians who were reportedly abducted on May 13. The council maintains that these individuals were taken by villagers from Leilon Veiphei Kuki in collusion with Kuki militant groups.

The council issued a firm warning to authorities, stating that it reserves the right to reimpose the shutdown or launch new protest actions if the missing men are not returned immediately. The group reiterated that its objective is the safe release of the civilians, declaring that the struggle will only conclude once all six men have returned home safely.
