Imphal: The Sukte tribe held anniversary celebrations across Churachandpur district on June 26. Members gathered to honor 70 years of cultural history. They performed traditional dances and offered prayers. The community highlighted their long record in education and public service. It was a day of pride.

Violence in the state told a different story. The National Investigation Agency arrested 10 people the same day. These suspects face charges for looting arms and attacking police. Operations hit seven districts including Imphal East and West. The CRPF and local police helped the NIA conduct the raids.

Investigators expect these arrests to expose the networks fueling the unrest. The agency claims this work is a key move toward peace. "The objective was to identify and prosecute those involved in criminal and terrorist activities, irrespective of community affiliations," the agency stated. Ethnic fighting has killed hundreds since May 2023. Political turmoil followed, leading to a period of President's Rule that only ended in February 2026.
