Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have apprehended several insurgents from multiple proscribed organizations following a series of coordinated anti-insurgency operations conducted over the last 36 hours. The arrests targeted members of the United Kuki National Army, the Revolutionary People’s Front, and the Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group.
In the Churachandpur district, officials detained a juvenile cadre associated with the non-SoO militant group, the United Kuki National Army. Simultaneously, security teams operating in Imphal East and West intercepted members of the Revolutionary People’s Front. Among those arrested were self-styled Lt. Col. Sarangthem Jayenta Meetei and cadre RK Solomon Singh, who were allegedly attempting to recruit a juvenile who was subsequently rescued by police.
Further operations resulted in the capture of Wangkhem Premjit Singh, identified as a self-styled captain and active extortionist for the banned KCP-PWG. He was taken into custody at his residence in Luker Mayai Leikai.
Amid these security developments, the Reformist Students' Front issued a formal statement calling for the government to scrap the Suspension of Operations agreement. The group claimed that Kuki militant organizations have violated ground rules throughout the ongoing conflict. The RSF specifically accused the KNF(P) of being involved in the recent abduction and killing of six Naga men, stating, "the KNF(P) was involved in the recent abduction and killing of six Naga men and demanded the arrest of KNF(P) leader Thangboi Kipgen." The student body also demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and the withdrawal of Assam Rifles from the region.
