Imphal: A joint task force of Manipur Police and central security units seized a massive haul of illegal weapons in Thoubal district. This recovery followed the high-stakes arrest of a proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front cadre in Goa. Authorities tracked down 51-year-old Nongthongbam Ingo, also known as Krishna or Yuhenba, hiding out in Cuncolim with help from local police. He faced charges connected to an active case at the Lilong Police Station.
The tip-off led teams to Chingdompok in the Heirok Part II area on June 22. They dug up two INSAS rifles, nine magazines, two 9 mm pistols, and 163 rounds of mixed ammunition. Officials confirmed the cache was tied directly to the suspect. The operation marks a blow to militant supply lines in the region.
Officers also rounded up three other insurgents in a series of swift raids. Police caught Yumnam Thoiba Meitei and Yumnam Joyraj Singh in Mayang Imphal, identifying both as extortionists working for the Socialist Revolutionary Party. Meanwhile, security forces grabbed Kshetrimayum Frenston Singh near his home in Imphal East. Police described him as a "self-styled Sergeant Major of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak." Investigations into all suspects remain active.
