Imphal: Manipur police and security forces arrested seven people during a series of anti-drug and liquor operations conducted across the Churachandpur, Kakching, and Senapati districts. These seizures, which occurred between June 5 and June 7, represent an ongoing effort to dismantle narcotics trafficking and illegal alcohol distribution networks throughout the state.

On June 5, authorities stopped two men, Paominthang Haokip and Isla Uddin, at a checkpoint in Vajing village. Officers found 1.423 kg of suspected brown sugar in their possession. Two days later, police intercepted K. Pauchinsuan and Tuahmawi at the Singngat station check post. That operation resulted in the recovery of 107 soap cases containing roughly 1.4 kg of brown sugar, along with the vehicle used for transport.

In the Kakching district, enforcement officials detained Salam Brojendro Singh near the Sekmaijing bridge on June 7 after discovering 250 litres of illicit liquor inside his vehicle. Meanwhile, security forces operating at the T. Khullen naka post in Senapati arrested Man Bahadur Bhattarai and Ajay Baniya. Authorities recovered 28.190 kg of suspected opium from their Bolero pickup truck.

Police confirmed that the operation involved multiple agencies working in coordination to secure the region. An official statement noted that these latest seizures form part of "ongoing efforts by Manipur Police and security agencies to curb narcotics trafficking and illegal liquor transportation across the state."
