Imphal: Manipur authorities hauled in a massive drug bust on July 4. Police netted four suspects and nearly 240 kilograms of suspected ganja. The Anti-Narcotic Task Force, local police, CRPF troops, and YADAM members combined forces for the operation.
Officers spotted a Mahindra Bolero near the Poloi Football Turf. The driver, identified as Mataimei W. Shimray from Ukhrul, tried to run. He failed. Police searched the truck and found 16 packets of drugs weighing 209.7 kg. Shimray went into custody immediately.
The investigation moved fast. Shimray spilled details on who was waiting for the stash. Police tracked two 18-year-olds, Ngangbam Dinesh and Phuritshabam Yaiphaba Meitei, to the scene on a TVS Apache motorcycle. Officers arrested the pair and seized their bike.
One more raid followed at a home in Pungdongbam Makha Leikai. Police found another 28.9 kg of suspected ganja stashed inside the property belonging to 42-year-old Oinam Abung Meetei. Officers arrested him on the spot. The total haul reached 238.6 kg. Everything, including the vehicles and the drugs, is now at the Lamlai Police Station.
