Manipur Police Capture Four Insurgents in Two-Day Crackdown

Imphal: Manipur police locked up four alleged insurgents during a two-day sweep across the state on June 24 and 25. Officers nabbed the men in separate raids aimed at local militant outfits. Security forces remain on high alert.

On June 25, police arrested Shamjetshabam Kokfai Meitei, 26, in Kakching district. Investigators claim he worked as an extortionist for SOREPA. In a separate operation that same day, authorities caught Konsam Oken Meitei, 36, near the Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district. Police identify him as an active cadre of the KYKL.

The crackdown began a day earlier. On June 24, forces detained Wangkheirakpam Romeo Meitei, 45, in Imphal East near the Porompat Police Station. He is allegedly a recruiter for PREPAK PRO.

Officers also picked up RK Bothoi, 30, near the Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal. They found a weapon on him during the arrest. Officials confirmed the seizure, stating, "A .32 pistol along with a magazine loaded with three live rounds was recovered from his possession."
