Imphal: Manipur Police nabbed two suspected drug peddlers during a weekend sweep in Thoubal district. Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Squad worked with central security forces to catch the men at their homes. The push comes as the state steps up its fight against illegal narcotics.

Authorities caught Md Sahid Rahman, 31, with 45 grams of suspected heroin. They also took Md Salauddin, 38, into custody after finding 39.11 grams of the drug in his possession. Police filed separate reports against both men under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. "Both accused, along with the seized contraband, have been taken into custody," the department stated.

These arrests followed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The state held a 10-km run in Imphal drawing over 1,640 participants. Police units and various armed battalions also staged bike rallies and school talks to warn the public about the dangers of the drug trade.
