Imphal: Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam confirmed on June 5 that the state government has not yet received a formal report regarding a deadly attack in Loibol Khullen village. The pre-dawn assault occurred in the Kangpokpi district and resulted in the deaths of three civilians, including one woman. Suspected armed militants reportedly struck around 4 am, leaving several homes destroyed by fire.

Speaking at a World Environment Day event in the City Convention Centre, the minister declined to speculate on the perpetrators behind the violence. Konthoujam explained that making immediate claims would be unwise before investigators provide a full account of the incident. He stated, "It would be premature to make any comments as detailed ground reports were still awaited."

Security forces are currently conducting an investigation into the attack, while local community leaders are calling for immediate accountability. Beyond the village incident, Konthoujam addressed confusion regarding the transfer of a Naga hostages case to the National Investigation Agency. He clarified that he personally signed the necessary documentation and suggested the reported lack of communication with the agency likely stemmed from a simple misunderstanding. The minister expects progress on that case in the coming days.
