Imphal: The Manipur government has formally requested the United Naga Council (UNC) to end its economic blockade, citing the need to prioritize public welfare and the safe release of civilians. In a letter to UNC president Ng. Lorho, Home Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary N. Ashok Kumar emphasized that the state is dedicated to resolving the current security tensions.
To ensure a transparent and swift resolution to the disappearance of six individuals, the state government has officially transferred the case to the National Investigation Agency. Officials confirmed that security forces have increased their presence through intensive combing operations, intelligence-based actions, and area domination exercises to locate the missing persons.
The government also addressed broader concerns regarding armed groups and the Suspension of Operations agreement. Authorities pledged to enforce strict ground rules and coordinate with the central government to relocate and rationalize designated camps. The Home Department stated that investigators will hold all responsible parties accountable, regardless of their status or affiliations, as part of an effort to restore order and harmony across the state.
