Manipur Deputy CM Breaks Ground on Girls Hostel in Pune

Imphal: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho broke ground on a new housing project in Pune on August 2. The Late Smt. Jamnabai Firodia North East India Bhavan and Rani Gaidinliu Girls Hostel will cost roughly Rs 10 crore. It aims to offer safe, secure shelter for students arriving from the Northeast. The Pune-based NGO Sarhad is managing the construction.

Force Motors Chairman Abhay Firodia joined the ceremony alongside journalists from Manipur. The project honors Rani Gaidinliu, a Zeliangrong freedom fighter from Manipur. Dikho framed the site as a vital asset for those fleeing regional conflict. He said, "As India moves towards the vision of Viksit Bharat, every young person, irrespective of where they come from, should have equal access to quality education and opportunities."

Sarhad founder Sanjay Nahar expects the build to finish in 18 months. The facility intends to mix students from diverse communities to push for national unity. Abhay Firodia noted that better cultural links between the Northeast and the rest of the country are vital. The finished building will act as a bridge for students seeking success far from home.
