Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh officially launched 13 mobile medical units on Tuesday to expand healthcare services in the state's remote hill districts. The vehicles were deployed during a ceremony at the Directorate of Health Services in Lamphel.
Operating under the PM JANMAN and DA-JGUA initiatives, these units are designed to bridge the gap in medical infrastructure by bringing services directly to underserved populations. The mobile clinics will offer a wide array of support, including general consultations, maternal and child healthcare, basic diagnostics, and screenings for conditions like diabetes and hypertension. They will also provide essential medicine distribution, oral health services, and referral pathways for patients needing further care.
Following the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the government's focus on outreach. He stated, "These units will enhance healthcare delivery in remote areas, ensuring greater access to essential medical services for our people."
The launch ceremony included Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Sumant Singh, along with Director of Health Services Dr. N. Hemantakumar Singh and State Mission Director of NHM Manipur Dr. M. Dinesh Singh. Officials noted that these units serve as a key component in the broader goal of building a stronger and disease-free Manipur by ensuring residents in difficult terrain receive timely medical assistance and preventive care.
