Manipur Chief Minister Vows Justice in Leilon Vaiphei Abduction Case

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh confirmed today that police have arrested two suspects linked to the kidnapping at Leilon Vaiphei. Victims and their families identified five people involved in the abduction. Police are currently hunting the others.

The Chief Minister spoke at the SEEDS Complex in Imphal West. He noted the state must capture everyone responsible. "It is the responsibility of the Government and law enforcement agencies to ensure their arrest," he said.

This case follows a bloody May 13 ambush that killed three pastors. Later, militants captured 18 people at Leilon Vaiphei. They released 12 but kept six in captivity. The Chief Minister previously visited Makhan village with Meitei and Naga MLAs to gather details from the victims.

During the visit, the Chief Minister launched the Uningthou Uyok plantation drive. This project plants the state tree of Manipur under the Ching-Pat-Turel campaign. He also inspected the neglected facilities at Olympian Park. He demanded immediate repairs to water systems and infrastructure. He hopes to open the park to the public soon despite ongoing safety fears.
