Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh is pushing a dual agenda of public health and regional stability. He recently attended two major anti-drug launches in Imphal. The events aimed to mobilize youth against substance abuse while the administration battles ongoing unrest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan via a virtual event from New Delhi. At Manipur University, the NSS Cell and state officials gathered to administer a drug-free pledge. Modi told the virtual crowd, "Achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat requires a generation of physically and mentally healthy, confident and disciplined youth."
Khemchand Singh emphasized that national progress at the 2047 mark depends on clean living. Manipur University Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K. Hemakumar Singh and Registrar Prof. M. Premjit Singh joined students and faculty to support the cause. Separately, the Chief Minister inaugurated a 10 Crore addiction-free campaign organized by the Brahma Kumaris.
He awarded the Universal Peace Ambassador Award to Rajyogini BK Nilima for her welfare work. Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam also attended that session. The Chief Minister used the platform to address the state's security climate. He met with displaced people in Jiribam and Litan. Kuki, Meitei, Hmar, and Paite residents all want to go home.
Violence remains a major roadblock. Khemchand Singh blamed vested interests for recurring clashes. He promised harsh legal action against those stirring trouble. The government is now prioritizing trust and harmony. He urged all citizens to help restore order.
