Manipur Chief Minister Calls for Urgent Climate Action on World Environment Day

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand emphasized the need for urgent collective action to address climate change while advocating for the preservation of vital ecosystems. Speaking on World Environment Day 2026, the Chief Minister highlighted that forests, trees, and wetlands are essential tools for maintaining ecological balance.

Khemchand planted saplings at Ayush Hospital in Lamphel to mark the occasion. He reaffirmed the state government's dedication to protecting nature for future generations and encouraged the public to take an active role in local conservation efforts.

Addressing the participants, the Chief Minister said, "Let us join hands to plant more trees, conserve our wetlands, and protect our rich natural heritage. The actions we take today will determine the future we leave for generations to come." The event served as a reminder of the critical importance of safeguarding natural resources against growing environmental challenges.
