Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh declared that sustained dialogue is the only way to end the state's ongoing conflict. Speaking on June 19 at the opening of a new girls' hostel for the Mission Blind School in Tengnoupal, the Chief Minister urged Meitei, Kuki, and Naga communities to move past internal divisions to secure the state's future.

Singh noted that the government is actively engaging with various stakeholders to restore stability. He emphasized that the state's territorial integrity is a shared legacy built by its 36 diverse communities. As he addressed the gathering, he stated, "If Meiteis, Kukis and Nagas continue to think only about themselves and remain in conflict, the state can never progress."

While the Chief Minister identified encouraging signs of returning normalcy, he acknowledged that isolated incidents in hill areas have hindered the reconciliation process. He cautioned that violence offers no lasting solution and encouraged citizens to prioritize future generations through forgiveness and mutual understanding. Drawing a parallel to the rapid development of nations like Singapore, Singh underscored that collective growth is impossible without a unified identity.

The event also served to highlight the state's commitment to inclusive welfare. The new hostel facility is designed to improve support for visually impaired students, marking another step in the administration's broader push for development. Singh concluded by appealing to all social sections to support peace efforts, insisting that stability is the essential foundation for economic recovery and prosperity in Manipur.
