Kohima: The Lotha Students Union recently conducted inspections across government offices in the Wokha district to evaluate institutional discipline and service standards. Leaders of the union expressed disappointment regarding irregular attendance and a failure by some employees to adhere to official working hours. While the group praised the medical team at Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital for their dedication, they acknowledged that the facility is struggling with significant staffing shortages and infrastructure limitations, issues the union intends to address with higher authorities.
Beyond workplace attendance, the union focused on pressing public safety and community issues. They submitted a formal request to the deputy commissioner of Wokha urging the stricter enforcement of inner line permit regulations. The union also highlighted safety risks for students traveling along NH-2, noting that a lack of pedestrian crossings and heavy traffic near schools require urgent intervention from local administrators.
To protect the welfare of the youth, the union warned local businesses that employing underage children is prohibited and will result in reports to the authorities under existing labor laws. Department heads are being urged to enforce stricter office discipline, as the union pledges to maintain its role as a proactive link between the public and the government.
