Landslide Kills Assam Worker at Arunachal Hydropower Site

Itanagar: A landslide killed one worker and injured another at the Parsi Parlo Hydro Power Project on Tuesday. The disaster struck at 3 pm in the Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh. Debris and boulders crashed down the hillside, burying the men at the construction site.

Nobin Doley died instantly. Doley hailed from the Dhemaji district in Assam. Rescue crews pulled a second worker from the rubble. They rushed him to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Officials have not yet identified this survivor.

The Kurung Kumey District Information and Public Relations Officer confirmed the project management is currently conducting a detailed assessment of the site. Administrative procedures are moving forward as investigators look into the collapse. Officials announced on August 5 that the "cause of the landslide is under investigation."
