Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has officially extended its ongoing 48-hour shutdown for an additional two days, effective from midnight on May 17. This decision follows the organization's assertion that the government has failed to provide a meaningful response to their charter of demands or address the plight of Kuki individuals allegedly held hostage in the Senapati district.

In an official statement released on May 17, the organization emphasized that the extension was a result of the authorities' continued silence regarding a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister on May 14. Labeling the government's inaction as both unfortunate and unacceptable, KIM urged officials to intervene immediately to prevent the regional situation from escalating further.
