Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur, which serves as the apex body for the state’s Kuki population, has voiced strong opposition to the current Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The organization argues that the exercise fails to address the needs of nearly 59,000 Kuki-Zo internally displaced persons who are currently unable to return to their home constituencies.

KIM officials maintain that moving forward with this administrative process without ensuring these displaced citizens can participate threatens the integrity of democratic representation. The organization warned that the current approach excludes a vulnerable segment of the population, which renders the entire revision incomplete. The group stated that the current SIR is "unacceptable given the prevailing circumstances and raises serious issues regarding fairness, inclusivity, and administrative responsibility."

To restore the legitimacy of the process, the organization is calling on the government and district authorities to establish new mechanisms for those living in displacement camps. KIM insists that officials must implement concrete steps to ensure every affected individual is registered. Without these specific provisions, the group maintains that the electoral revision lacks credibility and remains fundamentally unjust.
