Kohima: In a coordinated, intelligence-led operation, Kohima Police successfully arrested two individuals suspected of running an extortion racket within the state capital. Acting on specific information regarding the movement of underground faction members, law enforcement officials launched a discreet surveillance mission in the Main Town area on May 18.

The suspects were apprehended at Razhii Point and identified as 38-year-old Kudukhoyi Vero, a self-styled Chaplee Finance Kilonser of the FGN Rhakho group, and 35-year-old Mulevo Khesoh, a self-styled Colonel of the NNC/FGN Akavi Chishi faction. Both individuals reside in Phezoucha, Kohima, and are originally from the Phek district.

During the arrests, authorities recovered a significant amount of incriminating material, including 14 yearly vehicle tax slips, various commercial tax documents, residency registration slips, and internal factional assignment orders. A case has been filed at the North Police Station, and the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to identify further accomplices and uncover the broader extent of their network.

Kohima Police remain dedicated to maintaining public safety and have urged business owners to report any extortion demands immediately. Officials guarantee that the identities of all informants will be kept confidential as part of their ongoing commitment to keep the region free from such criminal activities.
