Kohima: Officials in Kohima held a review meeting on May 26 to discuss the expansion of the water supply for the town, sourced from the Teupuiki and Dzupfu rivers. Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem chaired the session, which centered on a tripartite agreement involving the Nagaland government and the villages of Poilwa and Khonoma.

The current proposal includes building a 22 MLD Water Treatment Plant on 15 acres in Khonoma. The district revenue administration will manage the land acquisition process in coordination with the Public Health Engineering Department, with land surveys slated to begin in June 2026.

Infrastructure development linked to the area is also moving forward. The road project connecting Khonoma to National Highway 29 via the Dzüdza River is halfway complete. Officials expect the construction to finish by the end of the 2026-27 financial year and have requested a detailed progress report by June 3.

The meeting also addressed local development needs within Khonoma. Water supply improvements are underway through the Jal Jeevan Mission, and officials requested status updates on the renovation of the local Government High School. Additionally, the district forest office must report on conservation efforts, specifically regarding tree logging and the protection of local wildlife.
