Kohima: Education officials in Kohima gathered on Wednesday to train surveyors and voluntary teachers for the ULLAS program. This initiative, titled Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, serves as a centrally sponsored mission to reach total national literacy by 2027.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ruopfükoutuo Noudi led the session at the Capital Convention Centre. He noted that while Nagaland maintains strong literacy rates, a significant portion of the population still lacks formal education. Noudi emphasized that the program intends to provide more than basic signature skills, aiming instead to foster functional, digital, and foundational reading abilities.
District Education Officer Emilo Patton spoke to the participants about the importance of their role in identifying and registering non-literate adults. She described the work as a vital step toward the region's overall development. The training focused on operational procedures, the use of the ULLAS mobile application, and the implementation of the ULLAS Primer.
The event concluded with a technical session featuring several resource persons who guided the surveyors through their upcoming duties. Officials encouraged the team to approach the assignment with dedication to ensure the state successfully meets its full literacy goals.
