Kohima: The Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement observed its annual NCYM Sunday on September 13. Parishes across the Kohima Diocese held Holy Masses, prayers, and fellowship events to celebrate their young members. This day arrives every second Sunday of September per Article 6 of the NCYM Constitution. It aims to push youths toward active roles in church life.
The movement wants to nurture young people in their faith journey. Office bearers traveled to the Eden Gardens Children's Home in Khuzama to host specialized workshops. They aimed to boost the spiritual and emotional growth of the residents.
Instructors led specific lessons based on age groups. Students in classes 1 through 5 attended a session on "Living a Successful Christian Life." Children in classes 6 to 8 explored the intersection of spirituality and future career paths. Meanwhile, teens in classes 9 and 10 received mental health training focused on emotional well-being during adolescence. These sessions included games to keep the kids engaged.
Rev Fr Kokto Kurian, the NCYM director, handled the prize distribution for the day. Organizers noted the 2026 event reminds the faithful that young people are essential to the church. They are encouraged to act as courageous witnesses of Christ in their homes and communities.
