Guwahati: Kamrup district officials activated a round-the-clock flood response strategy on July 22. District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra led an emergency meeting in Amingaon to tighten coordination and relief efforts. The situation is dire.

Teams already delivered relief supplies to flood-hit areas in Palashbari and North Guwahati. Displaced residents are now taking shelter at the Bengali LP School and Amingaon Higher Secondary School. These camps will stay open until conditions improve.

Mishra issued a firm order to his staff. "Officials and staff engaged in flood management and relief operations would not be granted leave during the ongoing emergency period," the directive stated. Everyone remains on high alert.

Key agencies are coordinating the response. The State Disaster Response Force, Indian Army, Sashastra Seema Bal, and local health and water departments are ready. The National Highways Authority of India is also involved to keep vital routes clear.

A new District Disaster Management Authority building now serves as the central hub. Dedicated crews work there 24 hours a day on rotation to track flood levels and deploy help. Zilla Parishad CEO Siddhartha Goswami, Susanta Kumar Dutta, Bikram Chetri, and various circle officers attended the planning session to lock in these emergency protocols.
