Shillong: Jeremy Nelson Syiem earned his PhD in Zoology from Assam Don Bosco University in Tapesia. His thesis explored the use of Chironomus larvae as indicators of coliforms and other pathogenic bacteria in freshwater bodies across Meghalaya. He completed the rigorous work under the guidance of two primary supervisors.
Dr. Jane W. Shanpliang, an assistant professor in the Department of Zoology at Assam Don Bosco University, served as a supervisor. Dr. Herbert G. Lyngdoh, an associate professor of Biochemistry at St. Anthony’s College in Shillong, co-supervised the project. The research highlights specific environmental indicators in local water sources. He is the son of Heletson Nongkhlaw and Lucetta Jeane Syiem.
