Kohima: Social activist Temsutula Imsong recently took her parents on their first flight to Delhi. Better infrastructure made it happen. The family left their home in Ungma and reached the capital in a single day. This trip was once a fantasy. They traveled by road to Jorhat before boarding an IndiGo flight under the government UDAN scheme.

Imsong, famous for her cleanup work at the Varanasi ghats, shared her story on X. She watched her parents navigate modern highways and the Airport Metro for the first time. The journey linked their remote village to the city. It also gave the family new peace of mind.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised her account. He noted that such travel was impossible just a few years ago. He told Imsong, "Very well said sister. You have spoken for so many of us North Easterners. Many still under appreciate how Adarniya @narendramodi ji has revolutionised connectivity in our region."

Imsong noted that development means more than just concrete. It builds emotional ties between families separated by distance. Her parents returned home knowing their daughter is now only a few hours away. Improved transit has bridged a massive gap for those living in the hills.
