HYC Slams Shillong Government Over Untamed Drug Crisis

Shillong: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council hammered the state government on Friday for failing to stop a massive drug epidemic in Shillong. Key areas like Police Bazar, GS Road, and Lum Survey are falling apart. Drug users and peddlers now operate openly in these busy commercial hubs.

HYC president Roy Kupar Synrem says the government acts like a silent spectator while the streets rot. Local traders and families now live in constant fear. Theft and intimidation are the new normal. "The situation in Shillong has gone far beyond control," Synrem stated.

The group claims addiction has killed off local trade. Customers avoid the areas to stay safe. Synrem hit out at the Home Department and police for ignoring known hotspots and supply chains. He called the current state of the city a total disgrace.

The HYC demands a hard-hitting enforcement drive and consistent police patrols. They want peddlers locked up and public spaces reclaimed immediately. Synrem warned that hollow promises won't fix the damage. The government must act now before the city becomes impossible to save.
