Guwahati: Hojai Police busted a drug trafficking ring, seizing 28 kg of cannabis and arresting four suspects. The operation marks a significant strike against the state's narcotics trade. Police moved fast.

Officers identified the detainees as Suman Deb Barma, Pabitra Deb Barma, Rekha Deb Barma, and Sibani Deb Barma. Investigators say the group hauled the stash from Tripura to Hojai via the Narmada Express. That train was heading toward Narengi when authorities moved in.

Police acted on specific intelligence to intercept the traffickers and recover the haul. Officials confirmed that the agency has "launched further investigation to trace the source of the consignment and identify others allegedly linked to the drug trafficking network." This arrest is part of a broader push by Assam law enforcement to shut down regional drug supply lines.
