Himanta Biswa Sarma Visits Hospitalized CPI(M) Leader Hemen Das

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Gauhati Medical College and Hospital on Saturday, August 15. He went to check on veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Hemen Das. The politician is currently recovering from a bone fracture.

Sarma took to X to share updates on the leader's condition. He noted that Das is doing well. The Chief Minister offered his best wishes for a speedy recovery. Politics is a rough game. Despite their opposing ideologies, Sarma expressed long-standing respect for Das. He praised the veteran's dedication to agrarian reform and the poor.

Sarma highlighted the long history of the CPI(M) member. "Hemen Da, a lifelong member of the Communist Party, was first elected to the Assam Assembly in 1978," Sarma said. The Chief Minister made sure to tag the CPI(M) in his public message.
