Guwahati: Guwahati police intercepted a vehicle near the Gorchuk flyover and rescued three cattle as part of a crackdown on illegal smuggling. Officers from the Gorchuk Police Station stopped the vehicle, registered as AS13L8485, during a routine operation. The rescue included two bulls and one cow.

Authorities are currently questioning the occupants of the vehicle to determine where the animals originated and where they were being taken. This operation is part of an ongoing effort by the West Guwahati Police District to combat the transport of livestock across the state.

Police are now examining whether this incident is connected to a wider regional smuggling operation. According to police, "investigations are continuing to determine whether the case is linked to a larger cattle smuggling network operating in the region." Law enforcement agencies in Assam have increased surveillance in recent months, resulting in numerous vehicle seizures and arrests.
