Guwahati: Guwahati police locked up 35-year-old Raktim Kalita on July 11 following a violent outburst. Authorities claim Kalita caused a scene at Tangra Satra Road in Rukminigaon, where he threatened a woman while intoxicated.

Officers from the emergency response teams arrived to find him uncooperative and combative. He resisted arrest and scuffled with the responding officers, causing minor injuries. The trouble did not stop once they reached the station. Inside the Dispur Police Station, Kalita went on the offensive again. He refused a breathalyzer test, assaulted LNK Osman Ali, and tore the officer's uniform. He also smashed a wooden wall in the building.

Assam Police confirmed the chaos in an official statement, noting that "the accused was allegedly found under the influence of alcohol." Dispur police filed Case No. 500/2026 against him. He faces charges under Sections 132, 121(1), and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation remains open.
