Guwahati: A Gurugram court sentenced 31-year-old Mukesh to life imprisonment on September 19. The judge also ordered the Assam native to pay a Rs 50,000 fine. Mukesh, a resident of Bhuragaon, killed the woman he lived with last year. The victim was Kalpana, a domestic worker who lived in the city for seven years.
Kalpana stayed at a Delhi hostel in Khanpur starting January 2023 while looking for new work. She moved in with Mukesh on February 10. The pair stayed together until the tragedy. She spoke to her sister for the final time on February 18. Two days later, family members received news that she died by suicide at a hospital. Her sister quickly discovered she actually fell from a rooftop.
The sister filed a complaint at the Sector 14 police station, accusing Mukesh of foul play. Police arrested Mukesh the same day. Investigators gathered evidence and witness testimony before filing the formal charge sheet. A Gurugram Police spokesperson explained the legal outcome. "On Friday, the court pronounced the judgment. After considering the evidence and witness testimonies presented by the police, the court convicted the accused and sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him," the official said.
