Kohima: The GPRN/NSCN (Neokpao-Alezo) shot down social media reports on August 1 linking them to an arrest in Zunheboto district. They call the claims false. Reports identified the suspect, Hokito Yeptho of Xukhepu village, as a member of the Kitovi group.
The group’s Ministry of Information and Publicity slammed the reports. They specifically corrected the record on Yeptho’s alleged affiliation. The outfit maintains they are the only entity rightfully using the Unification name under President Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh.
They also called out the officer-in-charge of Diphupar Police Station. The organization claims the officer incorrectly tagged the Kitovi faction with the Unification label. They argue Kitovi ditched the name after his impeachment. The group says "inaccurate statements undermine public trust and social harmony."
Authorities need to check facts. The group warned that continued misrepresentation could force them to take direct action against those responsible for the errors.
